Seite 1 von 2 1 2 | | | | Arbeiterinnen | Als Arbeiterinnen bezeichnet man diejenigen weiblichen Insekten, die staatenbildenden Arten angehören und normalerweise selbst keinen Nachwuchs hervorbringen. Bedingt ist dies durch die permanente Freisetzung von Hormonen (Pheromone) durch die Königinnen, welche die Geschlechtlichkeit der Arbeiterinnen unterbinden. Ob ein weibliches Tier Jungkönigin oder Arbeiterin wird, entscheidet sich bereits im Larvenstadium. Bei den Honigbienen werden z. B. die Königinnenlarven mit Gelée Royale ernährt.
Am Ende der Larvenzeit verpuppen sich die Arbeiterinnen, um als erwachsene Tiere zu schlüpfen. Das Aufgabenspektrum der Arbeiterinnen ist weit und umfasst Tätigkeiten wie Nestbau, Nestsäuberung, Brutpflege, Beschaffung und Vorbereitung der Larvennahrung sowie die Verteidigung des Nests bzw. der Kolonie. | | |
