Coranus aegyptius have a short, strong proboscis (rostrum) which is strongly curved downward and is divided into three parts. The proboscis, which is mainly used to sting and inject enzymes into prey is not held next to the body in resting position. The proboscis can produce sound when it is moved through a longitudinal groove in the anterior of the underside of the chest. The scutellum has a yellow keel and a blunt spine at the end.

They all possess stinging-sucking mouthparts (a sting, a proboscis). Their antennae are relatively long and have one or more segments. The proboscis (rostrum) starts below the back of the head (in the hip region of the first pair of legs) and hangs backwards on the underside of the chest (thorax).

Taurus fly
...s mostly yellow in colour and has black spots and ligatures. It is covered in fine hairs. The head is spherical and black and the antennae are very small and thin. The third segment of the antenna is very short and with apically thin hair. The proboscis is strikingly large, yellow in colour and appears slightly darker at the end. In the resting position it lies on the belly amongst the legs. The proboscis is stretched out before eating takes place. The chest (thorax) is very rounded, yellow on the sides has a big, black shiny patch on the upper side. This patch is joined to broad longitudinal stripe which extends to the head. At the thorax’s ...

...ame ). The compound eyes of the males are almost joined? (holoptic eyes). On the sides of the thorax (chest) are large scales , under which the halteres (the balancing organ of a two-winged fly) are concealed. Some species have a very long, strong proboscis, which lies against the belly in the resting position, while in other species (eg Acrocera sanguinea) the proboscis is shortened.

Bees
...e body of the bee - as normally is the case with all insects - comprises three parts: head, chest, abdomen. The facial features include - eyes, two sensors which serve as a nose, mouth and mouth parts comprising two strong mandibles (jaws) and a proboscis. There are two pairs of thin wings and six legs attached to the chest. But the largest part of the body, the yellow-black ‘ringed’ abdomen with the poisonous sting, is the hallmark of the bee. Bees with poisonous stings are part of the Aculeata gr...

The antennae are an identifying characteristic for assignment to a particular family and they can be filiform, serrated or feathered. Their mouthparts are highly specialized. The length of the proboscis varies dramatically and may be up to 280 mm in subtropical species, and completely regressed in others. The lepidopterans are capable of registering sound.
>> Moths & Butterflies
...Bumblebees have a strong rounded body, comprising head, thorax and abdomen. They are protected from the cold by hair which is mostly yellow, white or black in color. The colouring of the bumblebee varies from type to type. Bumblebees eat using a proboscis, which can vary in length. They have one pair of compound eyes , antennae and six legs.

Forest bug
...biggest bugs in Central Europe and can reach a length of 13 to 15 mm. In the summer, it is bronze coloured, in the autumn, dark brown in colour. The upper edges of the pronotum are strongly curved. The neck shield at the top lights in orange. The proboscis is very long. The legs and the first set of antennae are maroon coloured. The larvae of forest bugs are dark. With age they become lighter in colour, especially their abdomens.

The common green bottle fly uses its proboscis to suck up liquids from carrion and nectar from flowers. The female common green bottle flies lay their eggs on carrion, which the larvae then feed on when they hatch. The Common green bottle fly larvae are considered useful as they are used as...

... is domed and ovoid in shape and the coloring varies, from multicoloured to shiny and metallic. The surface of the leaf beetle is smooth. All leaf beetles have wings. The wings are only rarely shortened. The Leaf beetle has a roundish head and a proboscis. The antennae are usually shorter than the torso. Leaf beetles have round eyes and feed on leaves.
