Longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae), also known as longicorns or long-horned beetles, are a family within the order beetles (Coleoptera). There are about 26,000 species worldwide, nearly 200 of which occur in Europe. Spotted longhorn
The spotted longhorn (Rutpela maculata) is a species of the genus Rutpela, in the order beetles (Coleoptera), the suborder Polyphaga, the infraorder Cucujiformia, the superfamily Chrysomeloidea, the family longhorn beetles, long-horned beetles or longicorns (Cerambycidae), the subfamily Lepturinae and the tribe Lepturini. Strangalia maculata and Leptura maculata are scientific synonyms for this species. The spotted longhorn is widespread from Western, Central and Southern Europe to West Asia. It is found throughout Germany butis only occasionally encountered.

Fairy-ring longhorn beetle
The fairy-ring longhorn beetle (Pseudovadonia livida) of the order beetles (Coleoptera), suborder Polyphaga, infraorder Cucujiformia and superfamily Chrysomeloidea belongs to the family of longhorn beetles (Cerambycidae). Here (in the subfamily Lepturinae and tribe Lepturini) it belongs to the genus Pseudovadonia. Adult longhorn beetles feed on pollen, flower parts or tree juices. Some species prefer tree bark or leaves and the stems of cabbage plants. Other species don’t eat anything or are predatory. The life span of an adult longhorn beetle is anything up to 90 days, in many species less than 1 month.
