| This moth can reach wingspans of about 45 mm. The base colour of the forewings is reddish-brown. The upper surface of the forewings is divided into three sections by two transverse, light, wavy lines with dark edges. There is a row of dark brown spots from the centre to the outer edge of the forewing in the lower third which connects with the second line. The jagged edge of the forewing in the course also follows a wave with a. When the wings are outspread this dark edge continues on the hind wings’ upper surface - as also as the supreme line complained across the sub-wings is extended. | | |
| | ...les and females have red and black markings on the abdomen. In the females these markings can be divided into three basic patterns according to their shape and location.
In type 1, which is themost common, the 2nd - 6th segments are red. A black line runs along the centre of these segments, which widens into a patch at the end of each of them. This black line is followed by a thin, yellow ring. All remaining segments are entirely black.
Type 2 has a similar pattern. However, the black markings on the 2nd - 6th segments are less pronounced.
Type 3, however, only has a slight red colouration on the...
| | | The abdomen of the female is flat with yellow spots on the 2nd and 3rd segments There is an unbroken, white, diagonal stripe on the 4th abdominal segment. The 5th segment also has a transverse whitish line on the upper surface. The males only have a white diagonal line on the upper surface of the 3rd segment. | | |

There is a dark brown diagonal stripe in the anterior third of the upper surface of the forewings, which extends up to the wing edge, and which remains visible when the wings are folded. Another transverse line in the same colour can be found in the posterior third of the wings’ upper surface. It runs from the wing joint to the wing tip. About halfway between these transverse lines, is a less distinct, wavy line. In the centre of the wings’ upper surface, between the two dark brown, transverse lines, are two different-sized, predominantly white patches, which have a thin, dark circumference and a brown core (usually). The drinker can be confused with other eggar moth species such as the plum lappet (Odonestis pruni).
| | The legs of honey bees are segmented, the hind legs play an important role in pollen collection. The first sector of the hind legs is greatly widened. On the inner side of this, is a thick line of hair which the bee uses to brush off pollen remains. Pollen is transported to the hive in "baskets" made out of an arrangement of hairs, also located on the hind legs. Like all bees, the honey bee has mouth parts, which can lap up sw... | | |
| | Queens are up to 20 mm in length, drones 13 to 17 mm , and workers 11 to 14 mm. These wasps are black and yellow in colour and their markings vary hugely. At the neck shield, the common wasp has a wide black line that gets thicker on its end. | | |
| | While queens reach a length of up to 20 mm, drones reach 13 to 17 mm, and the workers, 12 to 16 mm. The wasps are black and yellow in colour. The wasp has either a small straight line on it’s head which is sometimes discontinuous or 1 to 3 black spots. | | |

Their body is ochre in colour. Seam field and root field from midfield are insulated by a bright line with brownish edges. The front edge of the forewings is spotted with white. In the midsection there is a darker patch.
| | ...orius reach body lengths of 7 - 10 mm. Their bodies are covered with shiny dark brown, reddish brown, grey, whitish yellow and ochre scales. Their heads are strikingly narrow and long and bear oval, greenish eyes. A thin, light, well-defined central line is visible on the pronotum; it runs across the joints of the wings, becoming darker and more extended. The front chest scaly before each hip with a vortex. On scutellum the scales radially stand off. The legs are not "toothed". | | |

On the abdomen there is a significant edge in drawing a bright line, which is frequently interrupted something darker. This crest is overlooking the side of the abdomen. The hind wings have a dark, golden brown sheen. The legs are strongly built and yellowish-green to reddish-yellow in colour.
