...ult beetles feed on the margins of the leaves, especially on young plants, and leave jagged edges like those on stamps, while their larvae feed on the roots of the plants. The leaflets can be completely bitten through (blue lupine). Small and bird's-foot broom are also eaten by Sitona gressorius. In June, the young beetles of the new generation hatch. They often enter residential areas, occurring in houses to such an extent that they constitute a plague.

...ve in heathlands, forests, forest edges, meadows and gardens. In terms of environment, what is important for these beetles is the presence of the plant dock (Rumex) which they eat. The adult beetles seldom fly but they move considerable distances on foot. They are active from March to October. The overwintering beetles from last year first appear in late March/early April after terminating diapause.

Based on the shape of their segments (antenna limbs) and foot joints, booklice are divided into 3 suborders, namely Trogiomorpha, Troctomorpha and Psocomorpha. Most species found in Germany belong to the Psocomorpha.
